Mary E. Moore (Stebbins) Hewitt

Biography

Born in rural Malden, MA, Mary Elizabeth Moore and her family moved to Boston after her father's death because her mother wanted Mary and her siblings to have the best possible education. When she married James L. Hewitt, a music publisher, she moved to New York. In 1846, she published a volume of poetry, Songs of our Land.
